Copy-Editing for English

Language Copy-Editing at Copernicus is a standard service for most of the journals. For others it is additional upon individual request by the handling journal editor. Copy-Editing is provided after the typesetting (layout, structure, etc.) of the manuscript. It is our intention not to change the author's voice or style but to improve the readability of the manuscript. CE includes technical corrections of the following:

• Spelling
• Grammar
• Articles/Prepositions
• Punctuation
• Sentence Structure

Especially for the last point (corrections to sentence structure) a confirmation from the author is needed to make sure that the scientific content is not incorrectly altered. Authors receive their typeset and copy-edited manuscript for proof-reading together with a highlighting of the major language changes.
